Austin Spark League
Last week was a busy one for Austin Spark League. On Tuesday, we hosted an Open House at fibercove, Austin’s cool new coworking space, where the program session will take place this summer. We welcomed parents, students, educators, and fellow tech and startup folks to tour the space, as well as to get to know the founders and ask questions about the program.
In the midst of the event, we engaged the students in a short Lean UX exercise just to give them a flavor of what to expect in a few weeks. Judging from the responses we received that evening, it’s going to be a great first session!
The following day, Nick Hahn, one of the cofounders, presented at a Texas Alliance for Computer Science Education (TACSE) meetup to introduce Austin Spark League to area educators. And since our students will be learning to code on Pebble’s mobile platform, Nick also appeared at a Wearable Tech meetup the next day to talk about our program, which generated quite a bit of buzz on Twitter.
As you can tell, we've been busy spreading the Spark!
We’re grateful for the support from the community, and we can’t wait to get the program off the ground this July. There’s still space left in the session, however, so if you know a teen or parents of a teen who may enjoy the experience of building a product in a startup environment, please send them our way!
